Practice your English with a silent film??? Yes, it’s possible…and fun!

Watching films and TV shows is a great way to practice your listening comprehension, but have you ever tried practicing your English watching a silent film? We didn’t think so. But it is actually a really unique and fun thing to try. We suggest using the beautiful animated short film “The Snowman”, because it’s easily accessible and not too complicated…and, well, because of Christmas!

Here’s how you do it. Get 3 people together: one person will be the narrator, another will be the boy, and the other will be the snowman. Because the film is silent, everybody will have a slightly different and personal interpretation of what these characters would be saying, if they talked. This is your task! Try to “dub” the film, giving the characters voices and dialogue, while the narrator explains what is happening.
